Vivek Oberoi's business partner Sanjay Saha held for duping actor of Rs 1.55 crore; details inside

Vivek Oberoi’s former business partner Sanjay Saha has been arrested for allegedly duping the Bollywood actor of Rs 1.55 crore. Sanjay Saha, known for producing Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Haddi, was apprehended from his residence late on a Sunday night. He has been sent to a seven-day police custody following the court hearing. Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) Police are currently on the lookout for the other accused in connection with the case.

According to reports, an FIR was lodged by CA Deven Bafna, representing Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP Company, in July this year. The complaint, filed on behalf of Vivek Oberoi, charged Saha – also the owner of an event management company – with cheating, forgery, breach of trust and misappropriation of funds. His mother Nandita Saha and wife Radhika Nanda have also been named as accused in the FIR.

“Following FIR registration, we sent notices to the accused to appear before the police station for questioning. However, they failed to cooperate. We learned of (Sanjay) Saha’s whereabouts at his residence on Sunday, leading to his arrest. He was subsequently presented in court and remanded in police custody until 7 September,” Mid-Day quoted Senior Inspector Satish Gaikwad of MIDC Police as saying.

Reports suggest that Saha and his family members coaxed Oberoi to invest hefty amounts in an event and film production company and lured him of huge profits. They, however, allegedly used these funds misappropriately for personal gains. The accused have now been charged under sections 406, 409, 420, and 34 of the IPC.

Vivek Oberoi’s partnership with Sanjay Saha

Oberoi Mega Entertainment LLP was founded by Vivek and his wife Priyanka to produce, buy and sell organic products. Later, as per reports, when the duo were about to shut the business in 2020, they got in touch with Sanjay Saha who has a fair knowledge in event management and film production. Both the parties then partnered and changed the firm’s name to Anandita Entertainment LLP. They were even in the process to produce a film titled, Ganshe, featuring Nawazuddin, and discussions were on with Zee5 regarding the broadcast.

Meanwhile, one of Vivek Oberoi‘s lawyers Prerak Choudhary said, “This is just the beginning of a more significant issue, with more revelations to come. Sanjay Saha has not only defrauded our client, Mr. Vivek Anand Oberoi but also cheated several other celebrities. Sanjay Saha’s arrest is a significant development, and we commend the Mumbai Police for their actions. We appreciate the investigative authorities for taking prompt action, and we are confident that justice will prevail, and the accused will face legal consequences.”
