He said, “Alia was never offered this film, and it was never going to be a Dulhania franchise. This film was written from the beginning as Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. I know Alia, and at the time I was writing the film, I knew she wouldn’t be free for two or three projects. So, Varun and Karan were in touch with Alia, working on different ideas with her. Sometimes we discussed the idea of Dulhania, but this film wasn’t that.”

He added, “This film was always about Sunny Sanskari’s Tulsi Kumari, and I’m excited about it because it’s a little different; it’s almost in the same universe, but it’s a different film, and I’m excited to see how people will perceive it.”
