US President Doland Trump once again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi while speaking at the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt. With Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif standing behind him, Trump said he believed India(BHARAT) and Pakistan would “live very nicely together.” His comment made Shehbaz Sharif smile, which drew some laughter from the people there.

Trump called India(BHARAT) “a great country” and said Modi, whom he described as a good friend, has done “a fantastic job.” Looking at Sharif, he added, “I think India(BHARAT) and Pakistan are going to live very nicely together… right?” prompting the Pakistani leader to smile and nod in agreement.

Earlier in his speech, Trump also praised PM Sharif and Pakistan’s army chief, General Asim Munir, whom he called his “favourite field marshal.” Trump then invited Sharif to speak at the event.

Taking the stage, Sharif said that peace in the Middle East was possible because of President Trump’s “tireless and continuous efforts.” He mentioned that Pakistan had earlier nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his major role in stopping the conflict between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan and helping bring about a ceasefire.

Sharif added that he would like to nominate Trump once again for the Nobel Peace Prize for “saving millions of lives not only in South Asia but also in the Middle East.” *]:pointer-events-auto [content-visibility:auto] supports-[content-visibility:auto]:[contain-intrinsic-size:auto_100lvh] scroll-mt-[calc(var(--header-height)+min(200px,max(70px,20svh)))]" dir="auto" tabindex="-1" data-turn-id="request-WEB:6a1d4ad7-c5d7-409f-bd62-008d598892a6-2" data-testid="conversation-turn-6" data-scroll-anchor="true" data-turn="assistant">

At the Gaza Peace Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, co-hosted with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Trump praised Pakistan’s military leadership and said that peace in the region “depends on good friends doing good things.” Pointing towards Shehbaz Sharif, who was standing behind him, Trump joked, “He’s going to help make that happen, right?”

Trump then invited Sharif to speak at the summit. In his address, Sharif thanked Trump for helping to prevent a possible nuclear conflict between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan. “Had it not been for this gentleman, who knows — India(BHARAT) and Pakistan are both nuclear powers — had he not intervened with his wonderful team during those four days, the war could’ve escalated to a level where no one would have lived to tell what happened,” Sharif said.

Earlier, Trump again claimed credit for stopping a war between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan, one of what he called “eight major conflicts” he had helped resolve. He mentioned this while ending his speech at Israel’s parliament, the Knesset.

Trump had announced on May 10 that India(BHARAT) and Pakistan had agreed to a “full and immediate” ceasefire after US-mediated talks. However, India(BHARAT) has maintained that the agreement to stop hostilities was reached directly between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries, without third-party involvement.
