We have 1000 drones ready, will attack from land and sea: Iran warns US; IRGC declared terrorist organisation
Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami said that after the 12-day conflict with the US and Israel last June, the army has changed its military strategy.
New Delhi: Tensions between the US and Iran are continuously escalating. Amidst threats from US President Doland Trump, Iran has claimed to have prepared 1000 drones capable of attacking from land and sea. The Iranian military claims that if the US attacks, its network of drones and missiles can thwart these attacks.
On January 28, Trump asked Iran to reach an agreement on its nuclear program. He warned that if they did not comply, the next attack on Iran would be far more dangerous than before.
According to Trump, US warships are moving towards Iran. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also said that the military is ready for any military order from the president.
Iran has prepared an army of drones
Iranian Army Chief Major General Amir Hatami said that after the 12-day conflict with the US and Israel last June, the army has changed its military strategy. Under this, a large number of drones have been prepared.
According to Hatami, these drones can be operated from both land and sea. In addition, Iran already possesses a large number of ballistic missiles.
Iran has said that it can fire missiles and drones at US bases in Qatar and at Israel, similar to what happened in June 2025. According to reports, Iran recently deployed its drone carrier ship Shahid Bagheri to sea.
EU declares Iran’s IRGC a terrorist organization
The European Union (EU) has declared Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) a terrorist organization. This decision was made in response to the Iranian government’s violent crackdown on protests.
Sanctions have also been imposed on 15 officials, including top commanders of the Revolutionary Guard, and six organizations. These include entities involved in monitoring online content. Their assets in Europe will be frozen, and they will be subject to travel bans.
What did EU say
EU diplomat Kaja Kallas said that the repression cannot be ignored. She stated that the IRGC will now be considered on par with terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda and the Islamic State.
Australia, Canada, and the United States have already designated the IRGC as a terrorist organization. However, the UK has not yet added it to its list of terrorist organizations.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the EU’s decision a “showy move” and a “major strategic mistake.” He said that Europe is escalating tensions instead of de-escalating the situation.
The IRGC is considered Iran’s most powerful military force. It was established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and has approximately 190,000 active personnel.
