What, where, when, and how: A timeline of Delhi’s Red Fort blast

New Delhi: Delhi was shaken by a powerful car bomb blast that took place near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday, November 10, claiming nine lives and injuring many others. This catastrophic incident has sent down shockwaves across the country, filling people with grief and anger.
Here, we try to create a timeline of events for you.
November 10th will be written in dark letters for Delhi and the entire country. On this day, a powerful explosion occurred in a car near the Red Fort in the capital. The blast was so devastating that it killed several people standing nearby and reduced vehicles to ashes. Since the blast, police have arrested several people. Raids are also being conducted in various cities, including Delhi. Find out what the police discovered in this case between 6:52 pm on November 10th and noon on November 11th, and how many people have been arrested.
1. A Hyundai i-20 sports car exploded near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station, opposite the main gate of the Red Fort. It was at 6:52 pm, while the i-20 sports car was moving slowly at a red light. There were three people in the car at the time, and it exploded with intense power, say the reports. The car in which the explosion occurred runs on both petrol and CNG.
2. The impact of the blast was so strong that it damaged about 7 vehicles in its vicinity, setting them on fire. Soon, the fire engines arrived at the spot at 6:55 pm, and the fire was brought under control by 7:30 pm. By that time, a team from the Delhi Police Special Cell had also arrived. Also, teams from the NSG, NIA, and the forensic department rushed to the spot.
3. Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived at the scene at 9:25 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Amit Shah held a meeting with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and a team of doctors at Lok Nayak Hospital.
4. Security agencies questioned Dr Muzamil and Dr Adil regarding the incident. The car was registered with a Haryana number.
5. Later, the agencies detained a few others in connection with the incident. Dr Omar and his mother, along with two others, were detained. Mobile phones belonging to 12 people associated with Omar were also confiscated.
6. Dr Sajjad Ahmed was arrested in Pulwama and a woman named Dr Shaheen was also arrested.
7. The investigation into the Delhi blasts has been handed over to the NIA.
Delhi Police said that the CCTV footage showing the suspect’s car entering and exiting the parking area has been obtained, which indicates that the suspect was alone at the time.
A case has been registered under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
