Who is Bihar’s most wanted gangster Ranjan Pathak? How was he and his associates killed in a police encounter? Details

Days before the Bihar Assembly elections, four most wanted criminals from Bihar were killed in an encounter early on Thursday morning in the Rohini area of the capital, Delhi, in a joint operation between the Delhi Police Crime Branch and the Bihar Police. Gang leader Ranjan Pathak was among the slain criminals. According to the police, all these accused were involved in several sensational murders in Bihar and were preparing a major criminal conspiracy before the Bihar Assembly elections. With this, the ‘Sigma Gang’ also came to an end. Now the question is: what did Ranjan Pathak and his associates do in Delhi? Were they planning to carry out a major conspiracy?

How did the police capture all of them?

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Wednesday at around 2:20 am on Bahadur Shah Marg in Rohini. According to the team, intelligence was received that some members of Bihar’s notorious Ranjan Pathak gang were hiding in Delhi and were planning a major crime in the coming days. Based on this information, a joint team of the Delhi Crime Branch and Bihar Police laid a trap in the area. As police attempted to stop the suspects, they opened fire. Police returned fire, injuring all four criminals. They were immediately taken to Dr. BSA Hospital in Rohini, where doctors declared them dead.

Three associates of Ranjan Pathak were also killed

The criminals killed in the joint operation were identified as Ranjan Pathak (25), Bimalesh Mahato (25), Manish Pathak (33), and Aman Thakur (21). Ranjan Pathak, Bimalesh Mahato, and Manish Pathak were residents of Sitamarhi, Bihar, while Aman Thakur was a resident of Karawal Nagar, Delhi. Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar stated that several deadly weapons were recovered from the scene. The gang was wanted for several murders in Bihar, including the killings of Brahmashree Sena district chief Ganesh Sharma, Madan Sharma, and Aditya Singh.

The Bihar DGP also stated that the gang took refuge in Nepal after committing crimes and was plotting to incite unrest in the state before the Bihar elections. Police are also investigating whether the gang had any political or external support. Police officials say that this encounter has dealt a major blow to the gang’s network, active in Bihar and Delhi. Forensic examinations are currently being conducted on the weapons recovered from the scene, and raids are ongoing to search for the remaining gang members.
