Why Kash Patel shook hands with Pakistan’s Asim Munir? FBI boss is facing flak from Indians due to…; know his connection to Pak army chief

India(BHARAT)n-origin FBI director Kash Patel is under fire from India(BHARAT)n-American citizens after pictures of him shaking hands with Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir went viral on social media. Visuals shared on social media showed Patel smiling and shaking hands with Munir as he greets the Pakistani army chief during his recent meeting with US President Doland Trump at the White House.

Why Kash Patel is facing flak from India(BHARAT)ns?

Kash Patel has invited sharp criticism from India(BHARAT)ns, both at home and abroad, for his ‘bonhomie’ with Pakistan’s Asim Munir, with many terming his ‘cozying up’ to the Pakistani military leader, who is known for his anti-India(BHARAT) rhetoric, as a “betrayal”. Netizens pointed out Patel’s “hypocrisy”, stating that the FBI chief presents himself as a ‘proud Hindu’ who took oath of office on the Bhagvad Gita, and chanted ‘Jai Shri Krishna, when he assumed the top post.

Users noted that Munir’s controversial anti-India(BHARAT) rhetoric and radical Islamist outlook is completely at odds with Patel’s pro-Hindu stance. The FBI chief is known for publicly asserting his Hindu identity and had famously called the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Temple, the fulfilment of a 500-year-old struggle.

In contrast, Asim Munir is notorious for his Islamist, anti-Hindu rhetoric, with his controversial speech on the two-nation theory believed to have incited the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

How social media reacted?

Kash Patel’s ‘warm handshake’ with Asim Munir drew sharp criticism from users, with many wondering why the India(BHARAT)n-origin FBI boss was ‘cozying up’ to the Pakistani military leader, beyond the usual courtesy demanded from officials when a foreign leader is hosted at the White House.

“From ‘Jai Shree Krishna’ to ‘Valhalla’ and now warmly shaking hands with J!#@d! like Asim Munir who openly calls for J!H@D against Hindus. Kash Patel’s transition is just a reflection of U.S. politics and its foreign policy in the subcontinent under the Trump administration. Which is to appease Pakistan for crypto and rare earth minerals.” wrote one user.

However, many users defended Patel’s courtesy to Munir, arguing that his primary job as US government official is to protect American interests, and its required from to him to welcome any guest at the White House, regardless of his personal beliefs.

“Don’t mix his personal belief with his Govt stand and policy.” Another added, “What’s wrong with shaking hands with Asim Munir? He is an American citizen and works for his government. He has to do what is best for his government. Even if Americans don’t get anything in return from Pakistan, they would still shake hands with them during a bilateral summit,” a user argued.

Sharif, Munir meet Trump at White House

Earlier, on Friday, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir met Doland Trump at the White House, where they reportedly had to wait for nearly an hour in the Oval Office before the US President arrived, ANI reported.

“They’re coming, and they may be in this room right now. I don’t know, because we’re late. We have a great leader coming, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Field Marshal. Field Marshal is a very great guy, and so is the Prime Minister, both, and they’re coming, and they may be in this room right now,” Trump told reporters ahead of his meeting the Pakistani leaders.

Sharif became the first Pakistan PM to visit the White House in six years, while Friday’s meeting with Trump marked Munir’s second with the US President in the last four months.
