‘Will throw Waqf Act into dustbin…’: Tejashwi Yadav’s BIG statement ahead of Bihar polls, accuses CM Nitish of supporting…

Bihar Assembly Election: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and INDIA bloc chief ministerial face for the Bihar Assembly Election, Tejashwi Yadav said the Waqf (Amendment) Act would be “thrown into the dustbin” if the opposition alliance is voted to power.

What did Tejashwi Yadav say about Waqf Act?

Addressing a poll rally in Muslim-dominated Katihar district on Sunday, Tejashwi Yadav accused incumbent CM Nitish Kumar of supporting “communal forces”, while his father, RJD chief Lalu Yadav, never compromised with such elements.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has always supported such forces, and it is because of him that the RSS and its affiliates are spreading communal hatred in the state as well as in the country. The BJP should be called ‘Bharat Jalao Party’. If the INDIA bloc comes to power in the state, we will throw the Waqf Act into the dustbin,” Tejashwi Yadav said.

‘Bihar tired of Nitish Kumar’

The RJD leader launched a scathing attack on the incumbent NDA regime, claiming that people are fed up with 20 years of Nitish Kumar government due to rampant corruption and law and order collapse in the state.

“The CM is not in his senses. Corruption is rampant in each and every department of the government. The law and order situation has completely collapsed in the state,” he alleged.

Yadav claimed that the NDA government has done nothing for the development of the Seemanchal region, which comprises Purnia, Araria, Kishnaganj and Katihar districts, that have a significant Muslim population. “If we come to power, we will constitute the Seemanchal Development Authority for the overall development of the region,” he said.

Tejashwi also claimed the NDA dispensation was “copying” his election promises. “We promised an increase in the old-age pension. The Nitish Kumar government increased it from Rs 400 per month to Rs 1100 per month. I promise, we will increase it to Rs 2,000 per month,” he said.

RJD leader stirs controversy

Notably, on Saturday, RJD MLC Mohammad Qari Sohaib kicked up a controversy with his comments, stating that “all bills will be torn apart, including the Waqf bill” if Tejashwi Yadav become the Chief Minister of Bihar. Sohaib’s remarks drew a sharp reaction from the ruling BJP and its allies, who questioned how a central law could be changed by the chief minister of a state.

The Waqf (Amendment) Act was passed by Parliament in April. The ruling BJP-led NDA has described the law as a force for transparency and empowerment of backward Muslims and women from the community, but the opposition claimed that it infringes on the rights of Muslims.
