World Cup 2023: Team India players wear black armbands against England as mark of respect for Bishan Singh Bedi

Team India players on Sunday wore black armbands during the 2023 World Cup match against England in Lucknow, as a mark of respect for Bishan Singh Bedi, who passed away on 23 October.

“Team India will be wearing Black Armbands today in memory of the legendary Bishan Singh Bedi who passed away on 23rd October, 2023,” the BCCI said in a statement.

Bishan Singh Bedi, a legendary spinner and a former captain, passed away aged 77 last week after a prolonged duration of illness.

Bishan Singh Bedi led India in 22 Tests between 1976 and 1978. In total, Bedi played 67 Tests and 10 ODIs, having taken a combined total of 273 wickets across both the formats.
