Actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty is all set to entertain fans with his upcoming film ” Kantara Chapter 1. ” A promotional event was scheduled to be held in Chennai on September 30. However, a tragic stampede at Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam chief and superstar Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, claimed the lives of 41 people. Following this, the makers of “Kantara” have announced the cancellation of the event.

Why was Kantara Chapter 1 event called off?

The film’s producers, Hombale Films, issued a statement on Instagram expressing their condolences to the families affected by the tragedy. The statement read, “In light of the recent unfortunate events, we have decided to cancel our Kantara Chapter 1 promotional event scheduled for tomorrow in Chennai. We believe this is a time for reflection and solidarity with those affected. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with the affected families. We are grateful for your understanding and support, and we will definitely visit our audiences in Tamil Nadu in due course.”

Rishabh Shetty was shocked after the Karuru stampede

The caption of the post read, “Due to the recent unfortunate incident, we are cancelling tomorrow’s promotional event for #KantaraChapter1 in Chennai. Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected. Thank you for your understanding. We will meet our audience in Tamil Nadu in due time.”

Stampede at Vijay Thalapathy’s rally

The stampede occurred during Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam campaign rally in Karur, where thousands had gathered to see the actor-politician. As the crowd rushed towards the barricades to catch a glimpse of him, chaos ensued. Several people fainted in the stampede and were rushed to the hospital. Forty-one people lost their lives in the incident. On Sunday, Vijay expressed his condolences and announced financial assistance of ₹20 lakh for the families of the deceased and ₹2 lakh for the injured.

Kantara Chapter 1 will clash with this film

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Vijay Kiragandur and Chaluve Gowda under Hombale Films, “Kantara Chapter 1” is a prequel to the 2022 hit film “Kantara.” It also stars Rukmini Vasanth and Gulshan Devaiah. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on October 2 and will clash with Sunny Leone’s Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, and Rohit Saraf.
