Airline Ranked 'Worst Of The Year' Will Not Surprise Anyone

It's exactly who you think it is.

So WalletHub went ahead and dropped a new study that ranked the nine largest U.S. airlines, plus two regional carriers. As part of the study, the personal finance site looked at 14 different metrics “from cancellation and delay rates to baggage mishaps and in-flight comfort.”

You’ll never guess which one came dead last.

Don’t Miss: This Group Has Been Hit Hardest By Airline Cut Backs

Just kidding, you already know it’s Southwest Airlines.

Turns out people are still really mad about the entire holiday meltdown that happened last year, in which more than 16,700 flights were canceled or delayed during the week between Christmas and New Year’s, leaving thousands of people stranded in the process.

It turns out that canceling early 75% (or 4,000 domestic flights) on the day after Christmas alone is kind of a thing. And Southwest  (LUV) - Get Free Report CEO Robert Jordan’s apologies didn’t cut it, as the news has gotten out that this whole meltdown could have been avoided if the company spent less on executive bonuses and more on updating its flight programming software and employees. (And it doesn’t help that many customers complained they didn’t get a refund back in a timely manner.)

On a more positive tip, Delta  (DAL) - Get Free Report ranked first on the list, as the reviewers deemed it the most reliable airline, as well as one of the best for pets. It also had lowest rate of cancelations, delays, mishandled luggage, and denied boardings of all the airlines.

And somewhat amazingly the second highest rated airline was barebones operator Spirit  (SAVE) - Get Free Report.
