Ameesha Patel opens up about her adopted children, shares her wish, ‘Main poori cricket team paida…’

In the glitzy and glamorous world of Bollywood, many actors come and go, but there are a few celebrities who create a stir right from their debut. This star doesn’t belong to a filmy background yet; she dominated the industry with her innocence and strong screen presence. In her personal life, she is single at 50 and doesn’t have children of her own, yet in a recent interview, she made a surprising revelation. She said that she has quietly adopted some children and looks after them with immense care.

Speaking about marriage and children, Ameesha admitted that raising children is a huge responsibility; hence, she stayed away from marriage and even from keeping pets. She said, “Mere bachche nahin hain lekin mere paas bags hain. Main 16 saal ki umar se bags collect kar rahi hoon.”
(“I don’t have children, but I have bags. I have been collecting bags since the age of 16.”

However, behind this joke is a fact that many might not know. Ameesha revealed that she has adopted some orphan children and has been taking care of their education, medical needs, and other essentials silently. She believes in giving them a better life and a home that brings them peace. She said, “Maine socha tha ki kyon na main kuch anaath bachchon ko ghar doon nayi zindagi doon. Toh maine chupchaap kuch bachchon ko adopt kiya. Ye baat unhein bhi nahin pata hai, lekin maine unhein god liya hua hai. Ye baat unhein bhi nahin pata hai. Main chupchaap unki shiksha, medical aur zaruraton ka kharch uthati hoon.” (“I thought, why not give some orphan children a home and a new life? So I quietly adopted a few kids. They themselves don’t even know, but I have adopted them. I silently bear the expenses of their education, medical needs, and requirements.”

Ameesha says that she also fears attachment, and that’s the reason she doesn’t even have pets. She believes she has a giver mentality, and if her pet or kids fell ill, she would become so nervous or uneasy that her world would come to an end.

On being asked whether she ever wanted kids, Ameesha said, “I love kids.” Speaking on her bond with her niece and nephews, she said. “Mai apne nieces, nephews, aur chote cousin ke diaper badalti thi, unko khaana khilati thi, aur sulati thi.” ( I used to change my nephew’s and niece’s diapers.)I used to feed them food and put them to sleep; I used to say that I would give birth to an entire cricket team.”

She even said that once she wanted to give birth to several kids: “Mai bolti thi ki mai poora cricket team paida karne vali hun” ( I used to say that I would give birth to an entire cricket team.”)

However, she also recalled how her mother always reminded her that raising even a single child is no easy task. Recalling this, Ameesha said, “Tab meri mummy kehti thi ki ek baccha paida karo tab dekhna ye sab kitna mushkil hota hai. Mujhe bachchon se bahut lagaav raha hai. Main aaj bhi bachchon ko bahut pyaar karti hoon.”
(“My mother used to say, ‘Have one child first, and then you will realise how difficult it all is. I have always been very attached to children. Even today, I love them deeply.”

Through this candid interview, Ameesha once again proved that motherhood is not only about giving birth but about love, care, and the responsibility one takes to nurture children.
