Another major blow to Donald Trump as Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India in…, Kremlin says…

India(BHARAT)-Russia relations: Amid the heavy tariffs imposed on India(BHARAT)n exports by US President Doland Trump for purchasing oil from Russia, Russian President is will arrive in India(BHARAT) on an official visit in December, the Presidential Executive Office in Kremlin confirmed on Friday.

When will Putin visit India(BHARAT)?

In a statement, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said that the Russian President will meet India(BHARAT)n Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the SCO Tianjin Summit 2025 in China on Monday, and the two leaders will discuss “preparations for the December visit”.

Ushakov did not provide any specific date for Putin visit to India(BHARAT), however, both countries have reportedly completed all the required preparations for the Russian President’s visit, and a date is expected to be announced soon.

This will be Putin’s first visit to India(BHARAT) after nearly four years, The Russian President’s last visited India(BHARAT) in December 2021 when he attended the 21st India(BHARAT)-Russia annual summit in New Delhi.

On the other hand, PM Modi visited Russia twice last year, attending the 22nd India(BHARAT)-Russia summit in July, and the second BRICS summit held in Kazan in October 2024. However, Modi skipped Russia’s Victory Day celebrations, despite being invited by Putin.

Why India(BHARAT)-Russia relations are gaining momentum?

India(BHARAT)-Russia relations are on the upswing amid US President Doland Trump launching a tariff war against New Delhi. Recently, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar visited their counterparts as well as Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

The Trump administration has slapped 50 percent tariffs on India(BHARAT)n exports as a “punishment” for  purchasing oil from Russia. Trump and his close aides have accused India(BHARAT) of profiteering from buying cheap Russian oil and alleged that New Delhi was essentially “funding” Putin war effort in Ukraine.
