‘Attack on one aggression against both’: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia sign MAJOR defense agreement, to protect each other on…

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, which already has nuclear weapons, have signed a new defence agreement, according to official media from both countries. This deal makes their long-standing security ties even stronger. The pact says that if either country is attacked, it will be treated as an attack on both. It also promises closer military cooperation and joint efforts to prevent any outside aggression.

In their joint statement on Wednesday, shared by the Saudi Press Agency, both nations said the agreement shows their commitment to protect each other, strengthen security, and support peace in the region and the wider world.

“This agreement, which reflects the shared commitment of both nations to enhance their security and to achieving security and peace in the region and the world, aims to develop aspects of defense cooperation between the two countries and strengthen joint deterrence against any aggression. The agreement states that any aggression against either country shall be considered an aggression against both,” a joint statement published on Wednesday said, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

They added that the pact builds on their “historic friendship,” common security goals, and years of close defence cooperation.

On Wednesday in Riyadh, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to talk about ways to strengthen the long-standing partnership between their two countries, Saudi state media (SPA) reported.

They also discussed regional and global issues, shared their views on matters of common concern, and spoke about efforts to maintain peace and stability. Sharif is currently on an official state visit to Saudi Arabia.

A senior Saudi official told Reuters that the new defence pact is the result of many years of talks. He stressed that it is not aimed at any particular country or event, but is meant to formalize and expand the deep cooperation that already exists between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

The deal was signed just two days after an emergency meeting of the Arab League and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in response to Israel’s attack on Doha, Qatar, on September 9.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have had strong trade and defence relations for decades. Since 1967, Pakistan has trained more than 8,200 Saudi military personnel, and the two nations have conducted many joint military exercises.
