Bad news for Pakistan, China, India to soon be equipped with unrestricted tech transfer, deadly Su-57E jets to get…, Putin to….

Preparations are in full swing as the Russian president is expected to visit India(BHARAT) around December 5 to hold annual summit talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday met Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin and apprised him of preparations underway for the upcoming annual India(BHARAT)-Russia summit.

On Monday, Jaishankar held extensive talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The meeting comes as the two sides prepare for President Putin’s visit to India(BHARAT) for the 23rd annual summit.

Who is behind India(BHARAT)’s Su-57E deal?

At the same time, India(BHARAT) is also expected to finalize a trade agreement with the US in the near future. Under the circumstances, Putin’s visit to India(BHARAT) is perceived as highly significant by both countries.

What does unrestricted tech transfer mean for India(BHARAT)’s air power?

In a separate avenue, Russia has also offered India(BHARAT) its fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet. If this deal transpires, it could offer a major boost to India(BHARAT)’s air power. In addition to the Su-57 fighter jets, Russia offered to provide India(BHARAT) with “unrestricted” technology transfer and licensed production, as reported by the NavBharat report. This offer reportedly occurred at the Dubai Air Show, at which time Russia had also revealed the next-generation export variant of the Su-57 fighter jet.

Russia said it is offering, as part of its clear effort to enhance its strategic defence partnership with India(BHARAT), a comprehensive package related to the Su-57E, which includes weapons, licensed production, and “unrestricted” technology transfer.

During the air show, officials from Russia announced that serial production of the Su-57E has begun, and it is already operational in the Russian Air Force. In the offer to India(BHARAT), Russia is not only offering its fighter jets, but also providing long-term maintenance support, assistance with integrating more advanced technologies, and licensed production of more than ten newly exhibited weapons. If India(BHARAT) agrees to the deal, Russia has also offered to add India(BHARAT)-origin weapons to the Su-57E, the report mentioned.

This offer is part of a comprehensive strategy that starts with delivering the Su-57E fighter jets, before proceeding to the complete transfer of technology and commencing manufacturing in India(BHARAT). Stating an ongoing defense-industrial relationship between Russia and India(BHARAT) spanning the last six decades, officials stated that the offer signifies Moscow’s intention to develop a commitment to long-term strategic partnership, the report added.

Russia asserts that the Su-57E is a fifth-generation fighter. Like other fifth-generation aircraft, it has radar-absorbing coatings and internal weapon bays that are designed for improved stealth. Russia also states that the design of the aircraft enables it to evade detection with enemy radar. Russian officials stated that the Su-57E’s capabilities have been verified through actual combat operations.
