Bengaluru HORROR: B.Tech student raped by college mate inside men’s washroom on campus, later asks if she ‘needed a pill’

A 21-year-old engineering student has been arrested for allegedly raping a female student inside a men’s washroom at a private college in South Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Jeevan Gowda, is a fifth-semester student. Police arrested him on Wednesday, and he has been sent to judicial custody. The incident reportedly happened on October 10.

As per the police report, the survivor, a seventh-semester B.Tech student, had known Jeevan for about three months. On October 10, he called her several times during lunch, asking her to meet him near the architecture block. On the day of the incident, the survivor had reportedly met the accused to collect some belongings. When she went there, he allegedly kissed her without consent, pulled her into the men’s washroom, locked the door, and raped her between 1:30 and 1:50 pm.

After the assault, the girl managed to escape and told her friends what had happened. She later informed her parents, and they filed a formal complaint on October 15. Police said that after the incident, Jeevan even called her to ask if she “needed a pill.”

Officials added that there were no CCTV cameras on that floor, but forensic experts are examining both digital and physical evidence. Police confirmed that both students study in the same department and that the crime happened inside the college campus.

In another incident reported from Bengaluru in August, a college student was allegedly raped by the owner of the Paying Guest (PG) accommodation where she had been staying for only 10 days.

According to the police complaint, the accused, named Ashraf, forced the woman into his car late on a Saturday night and took her to an isolated area, where he assaulted her. Police later arrested Ashraf in connection with the case.
