27,000 Km/h speed: India’s ‘Surya Missile’ stuns the world with its advanced capabilities, can reach almost any country in world in just 30 minutes

There are claims that Surya could fly at around Mach 27. If true, that speed would put it in the hypersonic category. Missiles moving that fast are very hard to track and intercept, even for advanced defence systems.

27,000 Km/h speed: India’s ‘Surya Missile’ stuns the world with its advanced capabilities, can reach almost any country in world in just 30 minutes

A powerful missile named ‘Surya’ is becoming a major topic of discussion within India(BHARAT)’s defence circles. Although the India(BHARAT)n government and DRDO have never officially confirmed its existence, international defence experts believe it could be India(BHARAT)’s most advanced and secret weapon. Reports describe it as an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) with a possible range between 12,000 and 18,000 kilometres,  long enough to reach almost any country in the world.

What makes the Surya missile special?

According to a report by the Arms Control Association, experts believe DRDO began working on the Surya project in the 1990s. The missile is said to use technology from India(BHARAT)’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV), the same system used in space missions, which would give it exceptional power. Estimates suggest the missile could weigh around 70,000 kilograms and be up to 40 metres long, which makes it one of the largest ICBMs in the world.

The most striking feature of Surya is that it may include MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle) technology. This means a single missile could carry between 3 and 10 nuclear warheads, each capable of hitting different targets.

Recent signs and what experts are saying

Recent events have added fuel to talk about the Surya missile.

  • India(BHARAT) recently tested its Agni-5 missile with MIRV technology. Many defence analysts say this test is a strong sign that the technical steps needed to build a much longer-range missile, like the alleged Surya are being developed.
  • Some foreign defence experts and a few Pakistani academics have also publicly mentioned the possible existence of Surya. They say India(BHARAT)’s current missiles are enough to deter nearby threats, so a missile like Surya would be meant to reach much farther i.e. Europe, the United States, and China. If India(BHARAT) ever made Surya official, these experts say it would change global strategic balances.

Speed and interception claims about Surya missile

There are claims that Surya could fly at around Mach 27. If true, that speed would put it in the hypersonic category. Missiles moving that fast are very hard to track and intercept, even for advanced defence systems.

If a missile with such range and speed existed, it would place India(BHARAT) in a small group of countries that could at least in theory strike distant targets in a very short time.

However, it is to be noted that none of this is officially confirmed by the India(BHARAT)n government or DRDO. Most of these points come from expert readings of recent tests and public comments.
