New Delhi: In a major disappointment for the US President Doland Trump, who thought that by imposing tariffs on India(BHARAT), the friendship between India(BHARAT) and Russia would break. The Russian Foreign Ministry has given a sharp response and praised India(BHARAT) for continuing its cooperation with Moscow despite Trump’s tariffs. It also said that every attempt to break New Delhi’s friendship with Russia will fail.
Responding to questions from RT, the Russian ministry stated: “We welcome the fact that India(BHARAT), despite pressure and threats, continues its multilateral friendship with Russia and is showing commitment to strengthening it further. To be honest, relations between India(BHARAT) and Russia are moving forward with stability and confidence. Any attempt to obstruct this process will fail.”
It is important to note that the comment from Russia comes at a time when the US government has imposed a 25 percent tariff on India(BHARAT)n products. Not only that, but due to India(BHARAT)’s purchase of crude oil from Russia, an additional 25 percent tariff has been imposed. As a result, India(BHARAT)n products now face a total tariff of 50%, the highest in the world.

Notably, Doland Trump has accused India(BHARAT) of fueling Russia’s attacks on Ukraine by purchasing Russian oil, while his administration has refrained from imposing direct, harsh sanctions on Moscow. India(BHARAT) has condemned the tariffs as unfair and unjust, pointing instead to the U.S. and Europe’s own purchases from Russia.
Despite Trump’s pressure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Tianjin, China, to attend the SCO Summit. This was a clear message to the U.S. that India(BHARAT) is strengthening its friendship with both China and Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry praised this and said that the friendship between India(BHARAT) and Russia is unbreakable. “Our relationship is driven solely by national interests. The two countries are not only cooperating in defense production but also in space, atomic energy, Russian oil ventures, and several other sectors.”
