Boney Kapoor reveals he did not have Janhvi Kapoor with Sridevi out of wedlock

Boney Kapoor has recently addressed the controversy that Janhvi Kapoor was born before he tied the knot with Sridevi. Refuting rumours, the producer said that he married Sridevi in 1996 in Shirdi. However, Boney Kapoor added that he announced his second wedding months later in 1997. His announcement came following public scrutiny of their relationship and Sridevi’s visible pregnancy.

Speaking in an interview with The New Indian, Boney Kapoor opened up on their marriage and recalled the time Sridevi was pregnant with their elder daughter Janhvi Kapoor. The producer went on to add that he exchanged vows with his ladylove in June 1996. “My second marriage, my marriage with Sri (took place in Shirdi). We got married on June 2,” he said.

Addressing the rumours that Janhvi Kapoor was born out of wedlock, the producer added, “We exchanged vows, we spent a night there and it was only in January when her pregnancy was seen that we had no choice, but to marry publicly. It took place in Shirdi, on June 2. (But), in public, we were married only in January (1997). That is why some scribes still write she (Janhvi) was born before marriage, something like that.”

Kapoor was previously married to Mona Shourie. He has two kids from his first marriage – Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor. With Sridevi, the producer has two daughters – Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor.

Sridevi died in February 2018 sending shockwaves across the film fraternity. The seasoned actress breathed her last at a Dubai hotel due to accidental drowning in the bathtub. She was there to attend a family function.

On Sridevi’s demise, Boney told YouTuber Rohan Dua, “It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death. I had decided not to speak about it because I spoke about it for almost 24 or 48 hours together when I was being investigated and interrogated. In fact, the officers said we had to go through this because there was a lot of pressure from Indian media.” He added that the authorities found out no foul play and all test reports stated that it was accidental.
