The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has issued a gazette order that allows women of the state to work during night shifts. The shift timings are from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am. This sets a progressive pathway toward gender equality norms.

What’s the order?

The order of the Uttar Pradesh government permits women to work between 7:00 pm and 6:00 am and ensures women’s safety. The gazette order is also in favour of women employees.

It includes that women can now work six days a week. The overtime limit has been increased to 144 hours from the previous 75 hours, making the wages double as well.
