Congress turned rich MP into 'bimaru' state during its long rule: PM Modi at BJP workers' meet in Bhopal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that long rule of the Congress after Independence turned a rich state like Madhya Pradesh into ‘bimaru’ state and that the youth of the state were fortunate that they didn’t have to see the bad governance of the grand old party in the state.

Addressing a ‘Karyakarta Mahakumbh’ in Bhopal, PM Modi said, “After Independence, it was Congress rule in Madhya Pradesh for a long time. The Congress turned a prosperous state into ‘bimaru’ state. The youths of the state have not seen the deplorable law and order condition during the Congress rule,” said the PM.

PM Modi said first-time voters are fortunate to have seen only BJP government in MP which is key centre of India’s development vision.

“The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh has completed almost 20 years. This means the youths who will be voting for the first time in the upcoming elections, they have only seen the BJP government. They are fortunate that they haven’t seen the bad governance of Congress in Madhya Pradesh,” said the Prime Minister.

PM Modi said the BJP has a special connection with Madhya Pradesh, which is known as the heart of the nation.

“This public uprising, this joy, this excitement, this ‘mahakumbh’ of workers says a lot. This shows what is there in the minds of people here. This shows the energy of the workers of the BJP… Madhya Pradesh is the heart of the country… People of the state have always supported BJP…”

Terming the upcoming polls in the state very crucial, PM Modi said that it is important to ensure that the path of development created by people of MP, that vehicle of development doesn’t wander or stop.

Slamming the Congress for criticising the BJP over construction of new Parliament building and opposing digital payment system, he said, “Congress cannot digest the development work in India… They don’t want the country to develop… They are never proud of the country’s achievements because neither they want to change and neither want the country to change or develop… Congress will make Madhya Pradesh a ‘Bimaru Rajya’ if it gets a chance (to come into power here). They opposed digital payment but the world is impressed by UPI mode.”

He said that the Congress has been busy glorifying only one family and has been busy nourishing the corrupt system in India.

“Congress is like rusty iron, which gets corroded if kept in the rain. Now, Congress neither has the ability to see nor understand the national interest,” said the PM.
