Deepika Padukone becomes the first Mental Health Ambassador for the Government of India

Deepika Padukone, actor and founder of the Live Love Laugh (LLL) Foundation, has been appointed the country’s first Mental Health Ambassador by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). This move marks a major step by the ministry towards creating a more conducive environment for mental health in the country.

On this occasion, Shri J.P. Nadda, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, said, “This partnership with Smt. Deepika Padukone will help in spreading awareness about mental health issues in India(BHARAT), promote public discussion on these topics, and highlight mental health as an important part of public health.”

Deepika Padukone Shares Her Gratitude

Deepika Padukone said, “I am honored to be the first-ever Mental Health Ambassador for the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India(BHARAT) has prioritized mental health care. I look forward to working with the Ministry to further this work and strengthen mental health in our country.”

Deepika’s Role and Responsibilities

In her new role, Deepika Padukone will work with the Ministry to:
– Raise awareness about mental health and change the stigma surrounding it.
– Encourage people to seek help and adopt preventive measures.
– Promote Tele-MANAS (Tele-Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States) and other government mental health services.

The Live Love Laugh Foundation Completes 10 Years

She will also work with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to ensure everyone has easy access to mental health support and resources. This appointment comes as Deepika Padukone’s charity, The Live Love Laugh Foundation, has completed 10 years of service, helping thousands of people.

Launch of New Awareness Campaigns and Well-being Programs

Over the past ten years, Live Love Laugh has helped over 21,931 people with mental illness and their caregivers across 15 districts in 8 states through its flagship Rural Community Mental Health Program. Live Love Laugh has also launched important awareness campaigns across the country, such as “Dobara Poocho”, “#NotAshamed”, “You Are Not Alone” for teenage students, and the “Doctors Program” for general practitioners. Recently, Live Love Laugh has also launched a mental health and well-being program for companies.
