Delhi Air Quality: The air quality of the national capital continued to decline on Sunday as well, slipping to the ‘very poor’ from the ‘poor’ category. This morning, the capital city reported an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 339, with several monitoring stations indicating that AQI levels are approaching the “very harmful” zone. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) stated that the AQI reached 268 on Saturday, further raising concerns among the people living in the Delhi-NCR region ahead of Diwali. The bursting of firecrackers during the festive days will further deteriorate the air quality.

Neighbouring cities like Ghaziabad, Noida and Gurugram are also facing the heat, recording concerning AQI levels. In Ghaziabad, the AQI levels were 324 in the morning which indicates the ‘very poor’ category, while Noida and Gurugram reported AQIs of 298 and 258, respectively, in ‘poor’ category.

As per reports, out of the 38 AQI stations in Delhi, nine are showing the “very poor” category. Some stations are about to enter the “severe” zone. The highest reported AQI was at Anand Vihar (389), the second is Wazirpur (351) followed by Bawana (309), Jahangirpuri (310), and several other areas such as Okhla, Vivek Vihar, and Dwarka, are all situated within a range of 303 to 310.
