Delhi blast update: What appears to be a shocking case of educated professionals turning to extremism has emerged from the Delhi Red Fort blast investigation. Agencies probing the white-collar terrorism angle say they have uncovered a network of doctors who allegedly pooled money and resources to plan coordinated terror attacks in several India(BHARAT)n cities.

According to the National Investigation Agency, the group raised a total of Rs 26 lakh to fund the conspiracy. During interrogation, key accused Muzammil Ganaie reportedly explained how the money was collected over time. He is said to have contributed Rs 5 lakh, while Adeel Ahmad Rather and his brother Muzaffar Ahmad Rather allegedly provided Rs 8 lakh and Rs 6 lakh respectively. Another doctor, Shaheen Shahid, is believed to have added Rs 5 lakh, and Dr Umar Un-Nabi Mohammad reportedly contributed Rs 2 lakh.

Intelligence agencies investigating the November 10 Delhi terror attack involving a suicide car blast have uncovered fresh details pointing to a wider transnational terror network, a structured chain of handlers, and preparations for multiple coordinated attacks, a report carried by news agency ANI said.

What happened at the Red Fort blast?

At least 15 people were killed and several others were injured in the car blast near the Red Fort in the national capital. Dr Umar Nabi, driving the car with explosives, committed the attack. The four other main accused, Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama (Jammu and Kashmir), Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian (Jammu and Kashmir), have been taken into custody by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
