Did Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu cancel India visit over Delhi terror attack? Israeli media says ‘now expected to seek…’

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has postponed his planned visit to India(BHARAT) once again. He was expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi later this year, but the trip has been pushed back because of security concerns following the recent terror attack in New Delhi. The attack, which took place two weeks ago, was the deadliest in the city in more than ten years and left at least 15 people dead and many others injured, according to Israeli media.

The news outlet i24NEWS reported that Netanyahu, who last came to India(BHARAT) in 2018, will now look for a new date sometime next year, depending on security reviews. “Netanyahu, who last visited India(BHARAT) in 2018 and was set to return for meetings with PM Modi, is now expected to seek a new date next year pending security assessments,” i24NEWS reported, citing sources.

Earlier reports had suggested he would make the visit before the end of the year.

This is the third time that Netanyahu’s trip was cancelled. He previously cancelled a one-day visit on September 9, saying his schedule was affected by Israel’s repeat elections on September 17. He had also withdrawn from a planned visit ahead of the April elections.

Netanyahu last came to India(BHARAT) in January 2018. Before that, PM Modi visited Tel Aviv in 2017, becoming the first India(BHARAT)n prime minister to travel to Israel. The friendly relationship between the two leaders has been widely written about in both India(BHARAT)n and Israeli media.
