When the world celebrated Diwali 2025, the Festival of Lights, leaders from many countries sent friendly greetings. They all shared messages about hope, working together, and light winning over darkness.

United States: President Doland Trump

U.S. President Doland Trump issued a warm Diwali greeting to all American celebrating the festival. In a statement, Trump said: “On Diwali, a timeless reminder of the victory of light over darkness, families and friends gather to celebrate community, find strength in hope, and welcome a spirit of renewal that endures year after year. As we light lamps and light up the world, we also remember the enduring truth that good will always triumph over evil.” 


Israel: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also sent greetings to India(BHARAT)n Prime Minister Narendra Modi and people of India(BHARAT) on Diwali. “On behalf of the people of Israel, I wish you, your family and the India(BHARAT)n people, hope, peace and prosperity. Let us continue to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between our countries in innovation, business, defense and creating a brighter future for our peoples.” 


Canada: Prime Minister Mark Carney

At a Diwali party in Ottawa, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said:

“Tonight, people and families across Canada will light small lamps called diyas. They do this to celebrate the idea that goodness always wins over badness (light over darkness). I wish everyone celebrating a very happy Festival of Lights.”

He also said that when people get together for Diwali, it clearly reminds us that we are much stronger when we are united and work together to solve our challenges. Diwali is also a moment to say thank you for the important and great things that Canadians who are Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and Buddhist bring to our nation.

He ended by saying: “While Canadians celebrate, all of us should try to be kind and generous to everyone. From the Canadian government, I send my best wishes for a happy Diwali.”


United Kingdom: Labour Leader Keir Starmer

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer sent good wishes for Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas on Monday.

He reminded people that he recently visited India(BHARAT) and lit a small lamp (diya) in Mumbai. He said this lamp represented faith, happiness, and a stronger friendship between the UK and India(BHARAT).

On social media (X/Twitter), Starmer wrote: “I wish all Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs in Britain a happy and peaceful Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas. As we celebrate this Festival of Lights, let’s keep working to make a Britain where everyone has hope for the future.”

Before this, he had also wished India(BHARAT)n Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “Happy Diwali” in Hindi during a meeting in Mumbai earlier in October.

Meanwhile, to join the celebration, the UK High Commission in India(BHARAT) had its staff dress in traditional India(BHARAT)n clothes.

 

 

Pakistan: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent Diwali greetings to the Hindu community and people across the world. “Let me assure you that Pakistan is the land of peace and tolerance, where hatred, chaos and terrorism have no place.” He added, “I pay rich tribute to the services and contributions of Pakistan’s minority communities in various walks of life, which manifestly embody the lofty ideals envisaged by our founding father, the Quaid-i-Azam, Muhammad Ali Jinnah.”


United Arab Emirates: Ambassador Abdulnasser Alshaali

UAE Ambassador to India(BHARAT), Abdulnasser Alshaali, sent Diwali greetings, saying the festival’s celebrations “the victory of light over darkness”. His message comes as the UAE continues to promote peace and unity among people from all walks of life across the world.
