Donald Trump makes BIG statement on Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict, calls Shehbaz Sharif and Asim Munir ‘great…’

After claiming several times that he has successfully resolved several international conflicts, United States President Doland Trump has now made a strong statement about the escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Trump showed tremendous optimism that he could “fix things” between the two neighboring countries very rapidly.

What did Doland Trump say about the Pakistan-Afghanistan conflict?

Earlier on Sunday, Trump said he would get the conflict between Pakistan and Afghanistan “solved very quickly”. He praised Pakistani leadership once again, calling Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir “great people.” Previously, at the Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt, he called Munir his “favorite.”

In the past few weeks, tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated sharply, resulting in the deaths of soldiers on both sides in clashes along the border. Although there was a ceasefire agreement, tensions remained high. Addressing an event on the sidelines of an  Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia, he talked about the latest tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“I know them both … the Pakistan field marshal and the prime minister are great people, and I know we’re gonna get that done quickly. That one started up a few days ago,” US President Trump stated, as reported by news agency PTI.

What is the current situation at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border?

When the fighting began between Pakistan and Afghanistan, the US president swiftly expressed interest in helping to establish peace, although he was simultaneously overseeing a hostage exchange between Hamas and Israel.

“I said, ‘I’ll have to wait till I get back. I am doing another one,” he told reporters at the time. Furthermore, US President stated, “Because I’m good at solving wars, I’m good at making peace.”

At the same time, Pakistan and Afghanistan were engaged in the second round of talks in Istanbul for the purpose of creating a joint monitoring and oversight mechanism to limit terrorist activity along the border. However, Islamabad warned that war remains an option if the talks do not resolve its primary concern over terrorism.

Several dozen soldiers, civilians, and terrorists were killed amidst clashes earlier this month, resulting in a war-like situation. However, following discussions mediated by Qatar and Turkey between the two sides, a temporary peace was achieved on October 19 in Doha.
