New Delhi: In a stern message to India(BHARAT) over tariffs, US President Doland Trump said that if India(BHARAT) does not stop buying oil from Russia, he will further increase tariffs. However, the US president reiterated his earlier claim that Prime Minister Modi had assured him that India(BHARAT) would not buy oil from Russia, adding that he had spoken to PM Modi over the phone regarding this matter.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), on the other hand, clarified that there has been no such conversation between PM Modi and President Trump.

Doland Trump makes explosive claims:

While speaking to reporters at the White House, US President Doland Trump said that if India(BHARAT) does not agree to his terms, he will impose heavy tariffs. He added that he had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding India(BHARAT)’s purchase of Russian oil.

India(BHARAT) rejected President Trump’s claims. The official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, clarified that there had been no phone conversation between PM Modi and President Trump. Meanwhile, when President Trump was asked about India(BHARAT)’s denial of his previous claim, he said that if India(BHARAT) continues to buy oil from Russia, it will keep paying heavy tariffs.

Here are some of the key details:

  • Trump has repeatedly stated that if India(BHARAT) does not stop buying oil from Russia, he may impose further tariffs.
  • It is noteworthy that India(BHARAT) has already made it clear that prioritizing national interest is its foremost concern.
