‘Don’t ask in public’: Has Khawaja Asif revealed Pakistan’s secret hypersonic missile test?

New Delhi: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has intensified speculation surrounding the test of a hypersonic ballistic missile. While not denying the missile test, he stated that he would not comment publicly on the matter. Although he did not confirm the test, his vague response has sparked speculation. Many are questioning whether Pakistan actually conducted a missile test.

Asif was asked on a Sama TV programme that there is talk in the country that the Pakistan Army conducted a secret missile test earlier this week. As Defence Minister, please explain how much truth there is in this. To this, Asif replied, “Don’t ask all these questions here. Ask such things privately. This cannot be discussed publicly.”

Why Speculation Began

Speculation about Pakistan’s hypersonic missile test began this week when residents of Quetta spotted a saucer-shaped cloud in the sky. On Tuesday morning, October 28, many reported seeing rare lenticular clouds in Quetta and the surrounding areas of Balochistan. Many attributed this to a secret missile test.

The lack of any statement from the Pakistani government fueled the rumour mill. While Asif initially dismissed these reports as mere speculation, he subsequently refused to directly address them during a television interview, sparking a new debate. However, experts have dismissed the missile test, calling the clouds a weather phenomenon.

Pakistan is Expanding Military Power

Pakistan’s claims of a missile test have drawn global attention due to Pakistan’s recent stance. Pakistan has expressed concern about its military strength following the military conflict with India(BHARAT) in May. Pakistan has recently taken several steps to enhance its arsenal and strengthen its military power. As a result, unconfirmed reports of missile tests quickly went viral on social media.
