Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday and submitted his resignation, marking the pinnacle of the term within the state assembly. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fandavis also reached the governor’s office to tender their resignations. The CM Shinde has been asked to behave as a caretaker chief till a fresh CM is sworn in.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PTI reported, “Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde submits his resignation to Governor CP Radhakrishnan.”

After a decisive victory of Mahayuti alliance including major parties like the BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP securing a large victory, and winning over 230 seats within the 288-member assembly elections. Alternatively, the Mahayuti alliance is yet to come to a decision candidate for the Chief Minister post. Two time Chief Minister and current Deputy CM, Devendra Fadnavis is likewise anticipated as a call for the position, as he is an element of the Bharatiya Janata Birthday party (BJP), the single largest birthday celebration within the assembly.

Earlier, CM Eknath Shinde posted on X (formerly Twitter) appealing his supporters to no longer to gather in Mumbai to expose toughen for him. “Out of love for me, some congregations have appealed to everyone to gather together and are to be had to Mumbai.
