Fell sick on a moving train? Here’s how to get medical help quickly and call a doctor; Know fees, helpline number
Railway officials say that medical help is available in passenger, mail, and express trains. If someone feels unwell during the journey, they can call the railway helpline number 138.
Every day, millions of people travel by India(BHARAT)n Railways. Sometimes, a passenger may suddenly feel sick while the train is moving. In such moments, people often panic and don’t know what to do. But there is a proper way to get help. If someone travelling with you — or even another passenger in your coach, becomes unwell, you can call a doctor to the train. Here’s how the process works and how much it costs.
How to call a doctor on a train?
According to India(BHARAT)n Railways, if a passenger feels sick during the journey, you must first inform the TTE. The TTE will then contact the control room. After that, a doctor will come to check the patient at the next station. This service from India(BHARAT)n Railways is not completely free. The passenger has to pay a small fee of Rs. 100. After treating the patient, the doctor will take the Rs. 100 and give a receipt. If any medicines are needed, the cost of the medicines will have to be paid separately.
Free medicine for common health problems
If a passenger gets a simple health issue on a moving train—like pain, fever, vomiting, diarrhoea, or an allergy—they only need to tell the TTE. The TTE will get one dose of medicine from the guard’s coach. This single dose is completely free, and the passenger doesn’t have to pay anything for it.
Passengers can also call this number
Railway officials say that medical help is available in passenger, mail, and express trains. If someone feels unwell during the journey, they can call the railway helpline number 138. Passengers can also directly inform the TTE or the guard to get immediate help.
