From iPhones to Macs: Apple discontinues 17 products this year – all you need to know

Apple just hasn’t been subtle about its discontinuations so far in 2025. The company has already let go of a host of devices throughout its catalog, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and even wearables and accessories. While these discontinuations don’t mark the end of the world by any means, they should be a consideration for shoppers both buying from third-party retailers and browsing Apple’s own online store.

Here’s a full list of products Apple discontinued in 2025.

A List of All Apple Discontinued Products in 2025 (What Buyers and Owners Need to Know)

Apple iPhones are slimming down

Apple has already culled a bunch of iPhones from its lineup in 2025. A number of iPhones, including the iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15, iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14, have already been taken down from Apple’s online store. The Apple iPhone SE (3rd Generation) was also officially discontinued earlier in the year.

According to MacRumors, Apple is replacing the iPhone SE with the iPhone 16e and a few other older models with newly announced products (i.e., the iPhone 16 Pro Max has been replaced with the iPhone 16 Max). The latest iPhone SE model was one of the company’s best-selling devices, and was notable for its small size and Touch ID functionality. This means the days of owning a smaller iPhone, one with a LCD display, and one with a Home button are over.

The phasing out of these products all seems to be part of Apple’s larger plan to eventually transition over to USB-C, as well as making its iPhones and iPads feel more consistent in design.

Apple iPad models are getting their turn

On the iPad front, Apple has retired iPads Pro with M4 chip, iPad Air with M2 chip and iPad 10. In their place, the company has introduced newer models that are powered by more capable chips.

As for MacBooks, there’s quite a few models to note here as well. Mac Studio with M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, MacBook Air (M2 chip), MacBook Air (M3 chip), MacBook Pro 14-inch (M2 chip), MacBook Pro 14-inch (M3 chip) and MacBook Pro 16-inch (M2 chip) have also been discontinued by Apple.

Apple watches and accessories to take their leave

The Apple Watch has also seen a number of devices retire. Apple Watch Ultra 2, Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch SE 2 have all been taken out of production.

The replacements for these devices are also set to launch later in the year. These include the Ultra 3, Series 11 and SE 3.

In the accessories space, there are the Apple AirPods Pro 2, the Vision Pro with M2 chip, the 20W USB-C Mag Safe Charger, USB-C to MagSafe 3 Cable and the 18W USB-C Power Adapter with MFi certification.

Apple’s software updates and hardware design language are likely to steer the company in a similar direction for 2026 and onwards.

For shoppers and third-party retailers looking for good deals, many of these products can often be snagged for cheaper after their discontinuation, depending on their demand. Official Apple support and updates will likely last until 2026 before support is pulled, so there may not be the best return on investment for first-party purchases.
