From M3 Silicon to new iMacs, MacBooks, here’s what to expect from Apple’s Scary Fast event tomorrow

Apple is all set to unveil a couple of new Mac products tomorrow in an online event, where they are expected to reveal some significant chip updates and introduce new iMac and MacBook models.

Apple has a tradition of incorporating themed Apple logos in their event invitations to provide clues about what’s to come. In this case, the event website shows an animated Apple logo that transforms into the Finder icon, strongly suggesting the arrival of new Macs.

The term “Scary Fast” indicates that Apple will introduce their brand-new M3 processors, potentially debuting in updated Macs, including the highly anticipated iMac desktop refresh. The big question is whether these processors will outperform other ARM-based CPUs, as well as offerings from Intel and AMD,

As for the event’s schedule, the “Scary Fast” Apple event is slated for Monday, October 30, 2023, at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT. This means that in India, the event will be telecast on Tuesday, October 31, at 5:30 AM.

To watch Apple’s “Scary Fast” Mac event, you can access the livestream on Apple’s official homepage or through their YouTube channel. Additionally, Apple TV users can find the event in the TV app under the Apple Event category.

Here’s what we expect Apple to launch at its Scary Fast event:

The all-new M3 SoC
Apple’s M3 SoC is anticipated to be a significant leap in performance compared to its predecessor, the M2. These new chips are reportedly being manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, the same process used in the A17 Pro chips for the iPhone 15 Pro.

This smaller process is expected to result in faster and more efficient chips, and Apple has secured TSMC’s entire 3nm chip production for approximately the next year.

Notably, Apple’s M-series chips have been recognized for their power, efficiency, and thermal performance. However, competition is heating up, with Qualcomm claiming its Snapdragon X Elite processors are 50% faster than Apple’s M2. The introduction of the M3 chips could be Apple’s answer to this challenge.

New iMacs and MacBooks
Apple is also expected to announce updated Mac models powered by the M3 chips. The iMac, which hasn’t seen an update since the M1 model in April 2021, is expected to receive a refresh, possibly with a new 24-inch model, as well as a larger 32-inch iMac in the future. The M3 processor is likely to be a highlight of this new iMac.

The MacBook Pro lineup, which was updated earlier this year with M2 Pro and Max chips, may also receive an M3 refresh for the 14-inch and 16-inch models. These new laptops are expected to feature more efficient Mini LED displays and more powerful M3 Pro and M3 Max chips, offering higher core counts for improved performance.

What else can Apple launch?
While some rumours have suggested the possibility of a 13-inch MacBook Pro or new MacBook Air models, these predictions are less certain. It’s also speculated that Apple may introduce updated accessories, such as a new USB-C Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad, alongside new Mac models.
