Gaza to be divided into two parts; Israel will control ‘Green Zone’ while Palestine will receive ‘ruined Red Zone’
Trump signed the Gaza Peace Agreement on October 13 in Sharm el-Sheikh.
New Delhi: The US is preparing to divide the Gaza Strip into two parts. A long-term plan has been developed for this. One part will be controlled by the International Security Force (ISF) and the Israeli Army. This will be called the Green Zone.
The other part, inhabited by Palestinians, will remain in ruins for the time being. It has been named the Red Zone. Almost all Palestinians have been displaced in the Red Zone.
This claim was made in a report by The Guardian. The report was prepared based on US military intelligence documents and personal statements from officials. According to the report, the process of implementing this plan has already begun.
Where will the Green Zone be created?
A Green Zone will be created in the eastern part of Gaza. Foreign troops will be stationed there alongside Israeli troops. Redevelopment work will take place there. The United States is attempting to secure formal approval from the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the deployment of international security forces here.
According to the plan, a few hundred troops will initially be deployed here. This number could later be increased to 20,000. No foreign troops will be allowed to leave the Green Zone.
Where will the Red Zone be created?
The area west of the Israeli-controlled Yellow Line will be called the Red Zone. No redevelopment will be undertaken here. This area has suffered the most damage in the two-year war, with a population of approximately 2 million trapped here.
This entire plan raises questions about the recent ceasefire and Doland Trump’s promises. The Trump administration had stated that Gaza would be unified and Palestinian rule would be restored.
Gaza Peace Agreement
Trump signed the Gaza Peace Agreement on October 13 in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh. Leaders from more than 20 countries were present, but Israel and Hamas were not invited.
After signing the peace proposal, Trump showed the last page of the agreement to the press. It stated that every person should have respect, peace, and equal opportunities.
“We want this region to be a place where everyone can fulfill their dreams in peace and security, regardless of their religion or race,” Trump had said.
