The brothers, who own the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, reportedly have many outlets in India and overseas.
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the Luthra brothers, Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, accused in the Goa fire incident, making strong observations. The court also rejected the accused’s argument that they could be lynched in Goa, as they were constantly receiving death threats on social media.
The Brothers Sought Four Weeks Of Transit Anticipatory Bail
While hearing the anticipatory bail plea of the Luthra brothers, the Delhi High Court said that the nature of the crime is prima facie very serious and horrific, resulting in the death of 25 people. The court also questioned the conduct of the Luthra brothers and said that the accused had concealed facts from the court.
The brothers sought four weeks of transit anticipatory bail so that they would not be immediately arrested after they returned to Delhi from Thailand. They have also sought interim protection from arrest.
Lynching Claims Rejected
The court also rejected the claims of lynching in Goa made by the Luthra brothers. The court said that action taken by the investigating officer or the court in accordance with the law cannot be termed as a threat to life.
The High Court questioned the accused as to why they did not file a petition in the competent court having jurisdiction in Goa. The court further said that the documents filed with the petition also do not support their statements prima facie.
A fire at their nightclub in Goa killed 25 people. The brothers, who own the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub, reportedly have many outlets in India(BHARAT) and overseas. They fled to Thailand’s Phuket hours after the fire broke out at their club in North Goa on the night of December 6.
