Travel from Ayodhya, the city of Lord Ram, to Varanasi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, is set to become much easier. The National Highway Authority of India(BHARAT) (NHAI) has started the tender process for building the Ayodhya-Varanasi High-Speed Expressway, which will be about 200 km long. Once ready, the journey between the two holy cities will take only two hours. The new expressway will connect to the Purvanchal Expressway, giving faster and smoother access between Ayodhya and Delhi as well. Travelers will enjoy a safe, quick, and uninterrupted drive.
Boost to religious tourism and trade
The project is especially important for devotees visiting Ayodhya and Kashi. Pilgrims will be able to travel between the two shrines more easily, and this improved connectivity will also boost religious tourism and speed up business activities in the region.
Other development projects in Ayodhya
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is working on several major projects in Ayodhya at the same time. These include the 84 Kosi Parikrama Marg, the Ram–Janaki Marg (linking Ayodhya to Janakpur), the Ayodhya–Sultanpur road, and the Ayodhya–Jagdishpur road, along with many new overbridges and underpasses on the Lucknow Highway. The Ayodhya bypass has also been upgraded and beautified at a cost of Rs. 55 crore.
With traffic in the city increasing quickly, the ring road project is being fast-tracked. Work is also underway on marking land up to Pratapgarh for the first phase of the Ayodhya–Prayagraj Greenfield 6-lane highway.
Once all these projects are completed, Ayodhya will become a major hub of road connectivity in North India(BHARAT), making travel faster and more convenient for residents, pilgrims, and tourists.
