Varanasi ropeway update: In a significant step towards tackling the traffic congestion in Varanasi, the city administration is building a ropeway connecting key markets and ghats. Expected to connect Varanasi Cantt Railway Station to Godaulia Chowk, the ropeway connection is expected to cover 5 stations, reducing the 45–50 minute road journey to just 15 minutes by ropeway. As per media reports, the trial for Varanasi ropeway connectivity will began in July 2025 and are research work is still ongoing, with technical checks and corrections underway. The reports also say that all stations will feature modern passenger amenities such as escalators, lifts, ramps, and parking.
