Google photos plans AI-powered ‘Me Meme’ feature-see how your selfies could go viral
Google Photos is developing a new AI feature, ‘Me Meme,’ that lets users turn selfies into personalized memes, making meme creation fun, easy, and shareable directly from your photo library.
Google Photos is getting a new AI feature that will allow users to take their selfies and turn them into memes to share. A developer discovered a new feature in Google Photos as it was being developed. In an APK teardown of version 7.51.0 of the Google Photos app, the new feature named “Me Meme” was discovered.
What Does ‘Me Meme’ Feature?
As the name implies, Me Meme feature by Google Photos, when it is eventually launched, will enable users to take their selfies and add it to a popular meme template. The feature will allow the users to select the image they want to use and map the face on it. After the mapping is complete, it creates a new image based on the selected meme template with the user’s face on it. A snapshot of the onboarding process in the Google Photos app shows the familiar meme template “This is fine”. This means more popular meme templates will be available for users.
The onboarding image in Google Photos’ APK also shows that the user needs a selfie image of themselves backed up in Google Photos. After that, they can proceed to select the selfie they want to use for their custom meme.
Me Meme and Gemini Nano Banana AI image editing tool
The development and launch of Me Meme as a Google Photos feature is not out of character from the company. It is in line with the Gemini Nano Banana AI image editing tool that Google integrated into some of its apps, including the Google Messages app.
By adding the meme feature to Google Photos, Google is bringing a cool feature to a platform that already has billions of users. The company’s AI image editor being in different apps makes it easy for users to create, edit, and share images.
Availability of ‘Me Meme’
The new Me Meme feature is not available to the public yet, and there is also no available date for its official launch. Google still has to test it to see how it works before rolling it out to the public. Users will have to wait for a while to be able to use the feature.
