The Grammy Awards 2026 nominations are out, and once again, India(BHARAT)n talent is making the nation proud. Two of India(BHARAT)’s finest music artists, Anoushka Shankar and Shankar Mahadevan, have bagged dual nominations each, representing India(BHARAT)’s deep cultural and musical influence on the global stage.

The sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, daughter of the legendary Pandit Ravi Shankar, has been nominated in two prestigious categories, Best Global Music Album for Chapter III: We Return to Light and Best Global Music Performance for Daybreak.

Her collaborators, Alam Khan and Sarathy Korwar, also share the honour, having co-created both the album and the track.

What did Anoushka say about her Grammy nominations?

Taking to Instagram, Anoushka shared her mixed emotions upon receiving the news. She wrote, “Today is a day of contrasts – a horrific migraine AND news of my 12th and 13th Grammy nominations all in one afternoon (sic).”

She continued, expressing her gratitude despite feeling unwell, “I’m beyond grateful, from my horizontal position in this darkened room, to have Chapter III: We Return to Light nominated for Best Global Album and ‘Daybreak’ up for Best Global Music Performance. To be nominated alongside the incredible @alamsarode and @sarathykorwar, with whom I made this music, makes it all the sweeter. For now, to sleep. Tomorrow, we celebrate!”

This marks Anoushka’s 12th and 13th Grammy nominations, further solidifying her position as one of the most globally recognised India(BHARAT)n musicians.

Shankar Mahadevan’s Shakti Band continues its winning streak

Another India(BHARAT)n legend, Shankar Mahadevan, along with his world-renowned fusion group Shakti, has also received two nominations, Best Global Music Album for Mind Explosion (50th Anniversary Tour Live) and Best Global Music Performance for Sherni’s Dream (Live).

This comes after Shakti’s historic win earlier this year, when they bagged the Best Global Music Album award for This Moment, marking a milestone in India(BHARAT)n fusion music on the world stage.

Other India(BHARAT)n-origin artists making India(BHARAT) proud

Apart from Shankar and Anoushka, other India(BHARAT)n-origin musicians have also earned nominations this year. Siddhant Bhatia received a nod for Best Global Music Album for Sounds of Kumbha, while pianist Charu Suri has been nominated for Best Contemporary Music Album for Shayan.

Their recognition reflects the growing global appreciation for India(BHARAT)n classical and fusion music, which continues to break barriers across genres and borders.

When will the Grammy Awards 2026 take place?

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The event will celebrate the best in global music and is expected to witness a strong presence from India(BHARAT)n musicians once again.
