IMD forecasts dense fog in Delhi, issues Orange Alert, SpiceJet and IndiGo share advisories with passengers; Details inside

New Delhi: Dense fog has been prevailing in Delhi for the past several weeks. Considering this, the India(BHARAT) Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Monday, December 29. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 22 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature around 7 degrees Celsius. Due to the possibility of flight delays and cancellations due to low visibility, IndiGo and SpiceJet have issued travel advisories for several North India(BHARAT)n cities.

SpiceJet And IndiGo Issue Advisories

In its advisory, SpiceJet said that due to bad weather and low visibility, flights to and from Delhi, Amritsar, Jammu, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Darbhanga, Patna, Guwahati and Bagdogra, and their connecting flights, may be affected.

IndiGo said that there are no signs of improvement in the weather in Dehradun and Guwahati; therefore, delays and cancellations are likely for flights to and from these cities. IndiGo said that dense fog continues to prevail in North India(BHARAT), affecting the flight schedule to and from Dehradun and Guwahati.

Delhi’s AQI Worsens

The air quality in the national capital, Delhi, has reached the ‘severe’ category, raising concerns about people’s health. According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app, the air quality was recorded as ‘severe’ at 19 monitoring stations in Delhi. The highest AQI of 457 was recorded at Anand Vihar, while the air quality in other areas remained in the ‘very poor’ category.

According to CPCB standards, an AQI of 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 satisfactory, 101-200 moderate, 201-300 poor, 301-400 very poor, and 401-500 is considered severe. The administration has appealed to people to wear masks when going outside, use air purifiers indoors, and take all necessary health precautions. Further measures may be taken if the situation persists.

Meteorological Department’s Alert For The New Year

Fog and cold conditions will persist in many states of the country in the coming days. According to the latest forecast from the India(BHARAT) Meteorological Department (IMD), ‘Dense to very dense fog is very likely in night/morning hours over Himachal Pradesh till December 30, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh till December 31, and in some areas of Himachal Pradesh on December 31 and January 01, East Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh till 29, Jammu Division till 30, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal till December 31, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Odisha till January 01.
