New Delhi: North India(BHARAT) will be gripped by severe cold before the New Year. The India(BHARAT) Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for dense fog, icy cold day conditions, and cold waves. Dense fog is expected in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Cold day conditions are likely in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Bihar. Fog will make matters worse in Delhi-NCR.

Severe Cold And Fog In These States

The IMD has asked people to be ready for biting cold on December 29, 2025, and has issued a warning for dense fog, cold day conditions, and cold waves across North India(BHARAT). Dense fog is likely to prevail during the night and morning hours in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Uttar Pradesh until January 1.

The IMD stated that cold day conditions are likely in some parts of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Bihar on December 28 and 29.  Cold waves are also expected in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh from December 28-29.

Snowfall In The Himalayan Region

A new Western Disturbance will become active over the Himalayan regions from December 30. Under its influence, light rain and snowfall are likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

What Will The Weather Be Like In Delhi-NCR Tomorrow?

The weather in Delhi-NCR will remain mainly dry from December 28 to 30, but fog will be a major problem in the morning. On New Year’s Eve, December 31, Delhi may experience partly cloudy skies. Light to moderate fog is expected in the morning. The maximum temperature is likely to be between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius.

Weather Forecast For UP, Bihar, and Uttarakhand

Uttar Pradesh is likely to experience severe cold, dense fog, and cold day conditions for the next few days. On December 29 and 30, temperatures in Uttar Pradesh may remain below normal due to cold winds. Dense to very dense fog is likely during the night and morning hours until December 31 and January 1, 2026.

Bihar too will experience severe cold and dense fog for the next few days. The weather office has issued a cold day warning for several districts of the state. According to the IMD, dense fog is likely to prevail in Bihar during the night and morning hours until January 1.

The cold spell will continue in Uttarakhand for the next few days. Cold day conditions, rain, and snowfall may be experienced in the plains and hilly areas. There is a strong possibility of light to moderate rain and snowfall in the higher reaches of Uttarakhand between December 30 and January 2.

In Sikar, Jhunjhunu, and Churu in Rajasthan, the temperature has dropped below 4 degrees Celsius in the past several days.
