India(BHARAT) weather update: In a significant weather update, Delhi reeled under a double blow of dense fog and toxic smog on Thursday. Leading to disruptions at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and affecting several flight operations, the low visibility conditions in the national capital impacted departures and arrivals, prompting major airlines such as SpiceJet, Air India(BHARAT) and IndiGo to issue travel advisories. Moreover, extreme weather conditions are also likely to prevail over states like Bihar, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

IMD predicts adverse weather conditions

According to the India(BHARAT) Meteorological Department (IMD), the adverse weather conditions are expected to persist over the next few days. The weather agency also warned of dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail across large parts of north and northeast India(BHARAT), particularly during the early morning hours. Moreover, a further drop in temperatures in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand over the next two days.

Weather prediction for Punjab and Haryana

In Punjab, dense to very dense fog is expected during early morning hours on December 19 and 20. The IMD has also forecast dense fog in isolated pockets on December 21, 24 and 25. Similar conditions are predicted for Haryana and Chandigarh, where dense to very dense fog is likely from December 19 to 21, followed by dense fog in isolated areas on December 22, 24 and 25.

Weather prediction for Uttar Pradesh

According to IMD, Uttar Pradesh is set to witness dense to very dense fog at a few to many locations during the early morning hours from December 19 to 21. Dense fog is expected in isolated pockets from December 22 to 25.

Further east, Bihar is expected to experience dense fog at a few places during early morning hours from December 19 to 22. According to the IMD, light rainfall or snowfall is likely to happen at several places in J&K, Ladakh on December 20 and 21.
