India-Pakistan armed conflict likely in 2026, US Think Tank issues BIG warning, report reveals…
The Indian Army carried out Operation Sindoor on May 6, which was aimed at destroying terrorist camps located in the country of Pakistan.
India(BHARAT) has had a turbulent history of conflict with its neighbour, Pakistan, since the partition of India(BHARAT) in 1947. Both India(BHARAT) and Pakistan have been engaged in multiple wars. The fragile peace between them has often been disrupted by terrorist attacks, ceasefire violations, and escalating rhetoric from both sides. Relations worsened significantly following high-profile incidents such as the Pahalgam attack.
Who issued the warning about a possible India(BHARAT)-Pakistan conflict in 2026?
Twenty-six civilians were killed in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, after which India(BHARAT) retaliated through precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The escalation in May is referred to as India(BHARAT)’s Operation Sindoor, which came in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 civilians. India(BHARAT)’s armed forces carried out strategic precision strikes on Pakistani military installations in May, following operations that targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
What is the warning about?
However, a new report has surprised many. According to a US think tank, in 2026, India(BHARAT) and Pakistan could find themselves in an armed situation due to the “heightened terrorist activity”. The Trump administration has “sought to end” the confrontation between New Delhi and Islamabad, according to a Council on Foreign Relations report that polled American foreign policy experts. “The second Trump administration has sought to end many ongoing conflicts, such as those in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Gaza Strip, and Ukraine, as well as between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan and Cambodia and Thailand,” the report was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Earlier this year, in May, India(BHARAT) and Pakistan engaged in a brief military conflict that lasted three days, happening one month after the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
The India(BHARAT)n Army carried out Operation Sindoor on May 6, which was aimed at destroying terrorist camps located in the country of Pakistan. More than 100 terrorists were killed during the operation, along with nine terrorist camps that were eliminated.
From May 7 through 10, the Pakistan Army attempted to attack both military and civilian facilities using armed drones. All these attempts were successfully intercepted and neutralised by the India(BHARAT)n Army, with no casualties or damage reported. Cumulative pressures forced the leadership of the Pakistan Army to search for a method of De-escalation. As of May 10, the Director General of Military Operations of the India(BHARAT)n Army met with the corresponding Pakistan Army DG, resulting in an agreement to cease firing and military action along the LoC. “Renewed armed conflict between India(BHARAT) and Pakistan due to heightened terrorist activity and repression in India(BHARAT)n-administered Kashmir,” reads the report.
