A giant puff of dust emerges after Holder pitches the ball full along the off stump in the 120th over. That can’t be good news for the West Indies, who will be up against Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja later on this surface. It isn’t easy for the Indian batters either despite the current score.

Earlier on the second day, Jaiswal had broken Mohammad Azharuddin's 38-year record for most deliveries faced by an Indian batter in his maiden Test innings.

Pitch report by Samuel Badree and Shakera Selman

"There's a lot of rough and cracks are starting to develop. It was hard for the batters. There's going to be more purchase for the spinners."

19:15 (IST)

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s unbeaten 143 has been a patient knock so far with the southpaw having faced 350 deliveries so far but former India spinner Pragyan Ojha feels the debutant might just accelerate on the ‘Moving Day’ and try and get India to a big score in quick time.

“On Day 3, it’ll be very crucial how he starts because it is not easy for a batter on this kind of a tricky track to come on and take on the bowlers. So, as he gets his eyes in, I am pretty sure that he will look to dominate a few bowlers and raise the scoring rate,” Ojha said.

If Ravichandran Ashwin's five-for was the highlight on the opening day of the first Test at Roseau, Dominica, Day 2 well and truly belonged to young Yashasvi Jaiswal who became the 17th Indian to score a century on Test debut and the first to do so in the West Indies.

The opportunity to make his Test debut came to Yashasvi Jaiswal not by design, but by default. It’s not that the 21-year-old has not put in the hard yards in domestic cricket. He has 1845 runs in 15 First-Class matches at an average of 80.21. But it took more than his average and runs for him to make it into the Team India Test side and also get a starting spot.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of Day 3 of the first Test between West Indies and India at the Windsor Park in Roseau, Dominica with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli set to resume from their overnight scores of 143 and 36 respectively, aiming to stretch the current lead of 162 past 300 and beyond.

Day 3 preview: India will look to maintain their dominance against West Indies when the two teams take field in Dominica for Day three of the first Test on Friday.

Young debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal introduced himself to international cricket with a classy century, and he’s not done yet. At stumps on the second day, Jaiswal was unbeaten on 143 with Virat Kohli (36*) at the other end.

Earlier on Thursday, skipper Rohit Sharma too roared back to form with a fine century before being dismissed by debutant Alick Athanaze, who grabbed his maiden Test wicket in the process.

Shubman Gill, who has been moved to the No 3 slot, was dismissed shortly after for 6 after nicking the ball to Athanaze at gully off Jomel Warrican’s bowling.

India currently lead by 162 runs with eight wickets in hand and will hope to stretch their lead well beyond Windies’ reach on the ‘Moving Day’.
