A 30-year-old India(BHARAT)n student from Haryana was stabbed to death in a street attack in Worcester, United Kingdom. His family has now asked the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to help bring his body back to India(BHARAT). Police have arrested five men on suspicion of murder. All five are currently out on bail. A sixth person who was arrested earlier has been released without further action. The police are asking anyone who saw the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
In India(BHARAT), Vijay’s elder brother Ravi Kumar has written to the MEA, saying the family cannot handle the difficult foreign paperwork, legal steps, and expenses needed to bring the body home. “We request the government to help us so we can perform his last rites here,” Ravi told PTI.
“Our family is devastated by this incident. We request the MEA to help us in getting my brother’s body back for the last rites. Due to the complex legal formalities and documentation in the UK, it is difficult for us to manage on our own,” Ravi wrote.
Local MLA Sunil Sangwan has also written to External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar, asking for quick help. Meanwhile, as UK authorities continue their investigation, Vijay’s family waits in grief, hoping his body can be brought back for a final farewell.
