India’s fastest train is…, not Vande Bharat or Shatabdi, it is…, its speed is…
Indian Railways is one of the largest train networks globally, serving millions of passengers daily. The fastest train in India is the Namo Bharat, operating on the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.

India(BHARAT)’s Fastest Train: India(BHARAT)n Railways has one of the largest train networks in the world. Millions of people travel in India(BHARAT)n Railways trains every day. It is one of the cheapest modes of transport in India(BHARAT), and if we term India(BHARAT)n Railways as the lifeline of India(BHARAT), it is not wrong. The India(BHARAT)n Railways is also upgrading its trains and equipping its coaches with better facilities to provide a pleasant journey to the passengers. But do you know which train has the tag of being the fastest in India(BHARAT)? Well, if you are thinking that it is the Vande Bharat or Shatabdi Superfast Express, you are wrong. The country’s fastest train today is not a traditional express but the modern ‘Namo Bharat’. The train currently runs between Delhi and Meerut on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor.
Which Is India(BHARAT)’s Fastest Train?
Namo Bharat, which runs between the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, operates at a top speed of 160 kmph. Before Namo Bharat, the Gatimaan Express was the fastest in India(BHARAT). It was launched in 2016 and was the country’s first semi-high-speed train, which runs between Hazrat Nizamuddin and Agra. Gatimaan Express’s top speed was also 160kmph, which was matched by Vande Bharat. On June 24 last year, the Railway Ministry reduced its maximum speed from 160 kmph to 130 kmph. However, the ministry later reduced the top speed of its trains. Currently, all trains on the India(BHARAT)n Railways network run with a top speed limit of 130 kmph.
Namo Bharat Routes
Currently, 30 Namo Bharat trains operate between New Ashok Nagar in East Delhi and Meerut South in Uttar Pradesh. Each train has six coaches and runs at an interval of 15 minutes from every station. On certain stretches of the route, the trains clock the peak speed of 160 kmph for a few seconds. According to officials of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation Limited (NCRTC), the full corridor will connect Delhi’s Sarai Kale Khan to Uttar Pradesh’s Modipuram through 16 stations across 82.15 kilometres.
A Game-Changer For Delhi-Meerut Travel
According to NCRTC, the entire Delhi-Meerut corridor is complete, and the journey will take approximately an hour, stopping at all stations on the route. This service will significantly cut down the travel time, enhancing the connectivity. The train will provide world-class comfort to commuters. “The entire 82.15 km long corridor with 16 stations, starting from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh, is likely to be commissioned soon,” officials from the NCRTCL said.
