IRCTC brings massive update: Passengers can now check status of their waiting list/RAC ticket 10 hours in advance
Railway Ministry officials said the decision was taken to provide advance information to passengers and help them plan their journeys better.
India(BHARAT)n Railways reservation chart preparation: In a matter of good news for commuters of India(BHARAT)n Railways, the management of India(BHARAT)n Railways has revised the timing of reservation chart preparation. Allowing passengers to know their ticket status up to 10 hours before departure, the news update is a big good news as customers had to wait till the last moment to know if their ticket is confirmed or not.
Timing of first reservation chart
For trains leaving between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the first reservation chart will now be prepared by 8:00 PM on the previous day. For trains departing between 2:01 PM and 11:59 PM, as well as those running between 12:00 AM and 5:00 AM, the chart will be prepared 10 hours prior to departure. Necessary instructions have been issued to all zonal railway divisions.
Earlier, the first reservation chart was prepared only around four hours before departure, leaving passengers especially those on waiting lists or RAC uncertain until the last moment. This often resulted in confusion, stress, and inconvenience, particularly for travellers coming from distant places who reached stations without clarity on seat confirmation.
Plan to give advance information to passengers
Railway Ministry officials said the decision was taken to provide advance information to passengers and help them plan their journeys better.
“For the convenience of passengers, the charts will be prepared in advance so that they can plan their journey easily”, Railway Ministry Ashwini Vaishnav was quoted as saying by a India(BHARAT) Today report.
The Railways had been receiving complaints for a long time over late chart preparation, which disrupted travel planning. The revised system is expected to reduce anxiety, save time and expenses, and improve the overall passenger experience.
