Is something big about to happen in PoK? India discusses Wakhan Corridor with Afghanistan’s Amir Khan Muttaqi, issues direct ultimatum to Pakistan on…

India(BHARAT) issued a significant ultimatum on Friday regarding Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). In a joint statement with Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar described Afghanistan as a “near neighbor.” This is a significant message from India(BHARAT) to Pakistan regarding its illegal occupation of India(BHARAT)n territory. Pakistan currently illegally occupies the area where India(BHARAT)’s land border meets Afghanistan through PoK.

Told Afghanistan ‘nearest neighbour’

The land border between India(BHARAT) and Afghanistan is only 106 kilometers long. This is the Wakhan Corridor, a strategically important area. For this reason, China has always kept a close eye on it. However, the area of India(BHARAT) that this corridor connects to is currently under illegal occupation of Pakistan (PoK). In such a situation, the India(BHARAT)n government’s designation of Afghanistan as its “nearest neighbor” is seen as an attempt to open Pakistan’s eyes to the situation in PoK.

‘Keeping an interest in your growth and progress’

Announcing the restoration of full diplomatic relations with Taliban-ruled Afghanistan, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, “As a close neighbour and well-wisher of the people of Afghanistan, India(BHARAT) has a deep interest in your development and progress.” India(BHARAT) also announced the expansion of its mission in Kabul into an embassy.

Meanwhile, Muttaqi has told India(BHARAT) that Afghanistan will never allow its territory to be used for anti-India(BHARAT) activities. He expressed gratitude for India(BHARAT)’s assistance, even during the earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic. Expressing his happiness over his visit to India(BHARAT), he emphasized the need for increased cooperation and connectivity, saying, “Afghanistan considers India(BHARAT) a close friend and seeks a relationship based on mutual respect, trade, and people-to-people ties. We are ready to further strengthen our relationship.”
