Karnataka power puzzle? Tension in Siddaramaiah’s camp as aide says ready to support Shivakumar if…, Congress to…

Bengaluru: Amid the ongoing power tussle within the Karnataka Congress, Home Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday stated that he would support DK Shivakumar as Chief Minister if the Congress High Command opts for a change in leadership, as reported by India(BHARAT)Today. The remarks are being interpreted as a significant endorsement from a close ally of CM Siddaramaiah. At the same time, another aide of Siddaramaiah, Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, has stated that Siddaramaiah will continue to remain in the top position.

In conversation with India(BHARAT)Today, he stated, “When someone asks me about Chief Minister aspirations, I naturally reply that I am in the Chief Minister race. But if there is a power transition and DK becomes Chief Minister, we will accept that.”

These remarks come amid an intensifying power tussle in the ruling Congress, with speculation of a possible change of guard as the government crossed the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20. Reports have pointed to a purported “power-sharing” agreement between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar in 2023.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he will visit Delhi if the party high command calls him. “If the high command calls, I will go to Delhi,” Siddaramaiah told reporters. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated that a decision regarding the speculated tussle in the state will be made after a discussion among the high command, CM Siddaramaiah, and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
