PM Modi inaugurates Skyroot’s Infinity Campus, unveils Vikram-I rocket, know everything about Indian space start-up

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday inaugurated Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad via video-conferencing. Skyroot’s Infinity is an India(BHARAT)n space start-up with state-of-the-art facilities and an area of 2,00,000 square feet fully dedicated to designing, developing, integrating and testing multiple launch vehicles. The campus has the capacity to build one orbital rocket every month. The Prime Minister also launched Skyroot’s first orbital rocket – Vikram-I, which has a capability to launch satellites to orbit.

It is worth noting that Skyroot is the country’s leading private space company, founded Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka. Both the founders are alumni of the India(BHARAT)n Institutes of Technology and former ISRO scientists. Now, both has turned entrepreneurs and want to make a substantial impact in the space sector. In 2022, the company launched its sub-orbital rocket named Vikram-S and became the first private company to launch a rocket into space.

This is a step towards making India(BHARAT) a global space power.

Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi virtually inaugurated Safran Aircraft Engine Services’ new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Hyderabad, marking the growth of India(BHARAT)’s aviation sector at an “unprecedented pace.”

PM Modi said that India(BHARAT) is dreaming big, doing bigger and delivering the best as he urged investors to come to India(BHARAT) as co-creators in the journey of a developed India(BHARAT).

The Prime Minister, who attended the ceremony via video conferencing, said that the upcoming Safran’s largest India(BHARAT)n Engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park would strengthen India(BHARAT)’s position as a global MRO hub.

PM Modi said the facility marked a significant step in India(BHARAT)’s efforts to localise high-value aviation services and will “create opportunities for the youths in the world of high-tech space.”

“In the past few years, India(BHARAT)’s aviation sector has advanced at an unprecedented pace. Today, India(BHARAT) is among the fastest-growing domestic aviation markets in the world. Our domestic market is now the third-largest globally. The aspirations of the people of India(BHARAT) are reaching the skies,” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister mentioned that earlier, the country was fully dependent on overseas facilities, with “85 percent of MRO work done on foreign land.” Because of this dependency, India(BHARAT) suffered from high costs and long aircraft grounding periods. He emphasised that the central government is now focusing on changing this situation.
